While of course we are very sad that we can’t eat at Hapa Ramen any more, that doesn’t mean we’re giving up ramen! Oh no, instead we’re trying out all the other great places in San Francisco that serve up ramen. Well we’re on a mission to find somewhere that tickles the taste buds as much as Hapa Ramen did, and there are some amazing ramen joints out there.
Ramen Underground serves up amazing dishes of ramen that look just as good as they taste. This place gets busy, but it’s worth it. Their chicken ramen bowls are really amazing, made with herb butter and kimchi, boiled egg and lots of great veggies. A real treat.
Men Oh Tokushima
Now you need to know a little about pork to understand why Men Oh Tokushima is so special. At this place you get Kurobuta pork from Japan. This is THE ultimate pork. Think the equivalent of kobi beef and you’re about there. It’s definitely a dish you need to try at least once in your life.
Miki is a little out of the way, you may even struggle to find it, but once you do, you’ve in on a great secret. This special restaurant serves great ramen, as well as a brilliant and varied selection of sushi.
We love the presentation method at Iza Ramen. They give you not one, but two bowls. In the first bowl you get your pork slices in a rich meaty broth, and in the other you get your noodles, so you can dip them into your broth. It really is a great way to eat ramen! They also offer up a cold ramen dish. Perfectly refreshing on warmer days!
Mensho Tokyo SF
This great chain is true authentic Japanese ramen. The Mensho Tokyo signature dish of tori paitan duck and pork chashu slices is to die for. Special mention should also be given to their vegan speciality, vegan raman with soy cream and seven different types of nut. It’s velvety and luxurious, perfect for anyone, not just vegans!
